Lymphedema

lymphedema

Lymphedema is accumulation of extracellular fluid causing edema. Extracellular fluid is the clear liquid of the blood that is filtered through the capillaries. In Western medicine it is lymph fluid. It is the medium of exchange of waste products of metabolism  and nutrients between inside of the cells and outside of the cells. So that circulation must be efficient or the cells will not function properly. From a practical  perspective, poor circulation of extracellular fluid results in achy pain in muscles ( similar to the achy pain you get after vigorous exercise from the buildup of lactic acid), or a burning pain in nerves. I have two ways I can treat lymphedema. The first uses just acupuncture. It is a treatment methodology that I invented based on what I understand what the meridians are. With this method I usually get a 50% improvement with the first treatment. For those patients who are afraid of needles, I can use Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) which is a needleless form of electro-acupuncture. You wont even feel it. It works but takes longer to see results. The best treatment is using both. Combined it works better than either one alone and you will see dramatic improvement by that evening.
